One of the best things about high-fired stoneware is its incredible durability. These pieces are designed to be used, loved, and passed down through generations. However, because they are handmade, they have unique characteristics that distinguish them from factory-made dishes, and a little care goes a long way.

Microwave and Dishwasher Safety

Most of our stoneware is perfectly happy in the dishwasher, but we always recommend avoiding drastic temperature changes. Going from a freezing refrigerator straight into a hot oven can cause thermal shock, which might lead to cracks. Gentle heating is always the best way to ensure your favorite mug stays whole.

Dealing with Cutlery Marks

Sometimes, you might notice gray streaks on a light-colored glaze. These aren't scratches in the ceramic, but rather tiny deposits of metal from your silverware. A quick rub with a specialized ceramic cleaner or even a paste of baking soda and water will lift those marks and leave your plates looking brand new.
